SCW Football loses first matchup against St. Dominic
On Friday, August 26th, the St. Charles West Warriors football team made their debut against the St. Dominic Crusaders at St. Dominic High School. To start the game, the Warrior’s kickoff lead to a touchdown by the Crusaders within the first quarter of the game. In the midst of the first quarter, the score was 14-0, with a dominant crusader team in the lead.
By halftime, the score was 21-0. In the third quarter, senior quarterback Daine Taylor threw 37 yards to sophomore Kyle Cotton, bringing the score to 21-6. Later in the third quarter, junior Jack Anzalone ran for two yards for another touchdown. The two-point conversion failed, leaving the score 21-12. The Crusaders later scored four more touchdowns in the third and fourth quarters, leaving a final score of 49-12. With the first loss, many players commented on takeaways from the game.
“Making sure everyone is doing their job, not worrying about other people, and being mistake-free is always a good thing,” says senior center Brayden Miller.
The Warriors play September 1st against Francis Howell North at Francis Howell Central for their next matchup.
