Every fall and spring semester, parents have the opportunity to meet with their students’ teachers to check in on their progress for the year. These conferences take up two and a half days and require the teachers to be at the building for 15+ hours. Because teachers must stay so long while students get a few days off, the Booster Club provides them with snacks and drinks throughout the conferences.
The Booster Club is made up of parents who volunteer their time to run fundraisers, support sports and clubs, and boost West spirit throughout the school and community. They offer grants, create and sell spirit wear, and most importantly collect money through fundraisers to make the school a better place.
Teachers appreciate the support and extra love that they receive while they are working hard over conference days, the snacks and cute decorations always brighten the mood. “High school teachers often get overlooked when it comes to occasions like this, so it feels really special. Our Boosters always do such a great job,” said Mrs. Weil when asked how these acts of kindness have affected her.
A very active member of the Booster Club who planned this event – Heidi Sikma – shared that they are “providing conference snacks and drinks for the teachers because of all they do for the students and families in our West community. We want to shout out to all the parents who donated to make this possible and we appreciate all your help.” These parents are great, but the teachers are just as incredible and deserve every bit of love they are receiving.
