Want to explore the world? Well your taste buds can with the Global Eats program sponsored by Chartwells k12. The Global Eats program is a culinary program that allows students taste buds to experience new flavors, textures, and cultures. This program began in September of 2024, where each month the cafeteria offered a different country’s cuisine.
Starting in September with the flavors of China, then followed by Indian food in October, Italy in November, and the Caribbean in December. This year, you can expect Korean Dishes in January, and Mexican in February. For every month that the country is changed, the cafeteria will transform and will have themed stations that reflect the featured countries culinary habits. This allows for educational, and unique options for students to have nutritious lunches.
To get more students engaged and interested, the program also incorporated a “Boarding Pass” system. This means students will receive a boarding pass paper, and will collect trip stamps for each country’s food they eat. These trip stamps can be traded in for side food items, or a Global Eats swag bag.
The goal of the Global Eats program is to build a “fun, educational, food-focused programs that create deeper connections between classmates and friends” Said Michelle Fohey, director of Dining Services for the City of St. Charles School District. This is a great opportunity for students to expand their horizons and learn about foods from around the world.
