Cross country shows success at freshman/sophomore meet
On Tuesday, September 6th, the St. Charles West cross country team’s sophomores and freshmen ran at the annual freshman/sophomore meet at McNair Park. Over the course of the last two meets, the team has been working endlessly to improve their running times and work on their speed. At this meet, the freshmen and sophomores put their skills to the test amongst various schools to see who would come out on top.
For the sophomore boys, Owen Shy managed to place 5th place overall with a time of 11:58, and Mitchell Riegerix placed 8th overall. For the sophomore girls, Genna Wacker placed 1st overall and Claire Horstmann placed 3rd overall. Out of the teams, the girl’s sophomore team managed to place second.
For the freshmen boys, CJ Large managed to place 2nd overall. For the freshmen girls, Miley Jackson placed 2nd overall, Emily Finley placed 3rd overall, Reagan Govero placed 4th overall, and Melaina Beilsmith placed 5th overall. The times of the girl’s teams managed to put the freshmen girls in 1st place overall, giving them the victory of the day. Sophomore Genna Wacker commented on the team’s future success.
“I think we have good freshmen that will help us in the future,” says sophomore Genna Wacker.
