The Hobbit or There and Back Again is the prequel to The Lord of the Rings book series also by J.R.R Tolkien it follows Bilbo Baggins, a Hobbit living in Hobbiton in The Shire one thing about Hobbits is that they don’t go on adventures, but one day Bilbo is visited by Gandalf and 13 Dwarfs going on a quest to reclaim their treasure and home that has been taken by Smaug the dragon asking Bilbo to be their burglar since hobbits are smaller and quieter than Dwarfs.

Many things happen when they are almost eaten by trolls meetup with elves including Lord Elrond and Legolas who are both in The Lord of the Rings and get advice they meet the humans of Lake Town, a fishing town just below The Misty Mountains where the Dwarfs home is.

Bilbo also meets Gollum, a creature who wants to eat him. Bilbo and Gollum go back and forth with riddles. Bilbo trying to win so he won’t be eaten he finds the one ring and takes it from Gollum.

Later Thorin and his company successfully get their home back and the Elves and the humans from Lake Town came to collect payment that was promised for their aid but Thorin consumed by gold sickness which has made him greedy and money hungry refuses resulting in a battle of five armies after the battle Gandalf takes Bilbo back to The Shire to live the rest of his life in peace you later see and hear about him and other characters years later in The Lord of the Rings series.
