Down the stairs to the Auxiliary Gym a new friendly face resides. Adam Ricks is one of the new additions to the SCW Family. Mr.Ricks has history at this school and his return is welcomed.
Mr.Ricks is a teacher for Triumph and the Assistant Baseball Coach. The love for school comes from growing up in a healthy school environment; A lot of positive support made an impact on him wanting to be a teacher.
“If I didn’t have the teachers I had, I wouldn’t wanna be a teacher.” Mr.Ricks said before continuing. “Big one here at West was Jeremy Shields, who is now one of our superintendent. He was my history teacher and baseball coach.”. Ricks thinks support in the classroom is an important key to why he became a teacher.
“Baseball is the sport I like to coach the most. I honestly prefer to play any other sports. Like basketball or soccer.” Ricks said showing his love for being a leader and team player. He did play baseball in high school here at SCW.
The motto Mr.Ricks likes to live by in his life is “When you’re dumb, you gotta be tough!”. Mr.Ricks explained “So when you do silly things in life, you gotta handle it and move on.” Mr.Ricks says. Life moves on and Ricks keeps smiling.
His favorite movie today is Major League, an 1989 sports comedy film produced by Chris Chesser and Irby Smith. The older movie is still his favorite till this day. Uniform and everything, Mr.Ricks is back at St.Charles West High School.
