Many students around West have noticed new teachers. One teacher we recently welcomed is Ms. Clare Wacker. Ms. Wacker is a math teacher who teaches ACT Prep, Algebra 1, Geometry, Integrated Math, and Math Applications. She attended Truman State University. 

She chose to teach math because “It made sense especially when I got to the Algebra 2 level.” Wacker said. Wacker also enjoyed helping her friends. “When you have a conceptual understanding, it’s satisfying- everything builds on itself and it makes connections.” said Wacker.

 Her favorite thing about West is the community. “It’s my first year, and the administration and staff are so welcoming.”

In Ms. Wacker’s free time she goes hiking. She enjoys cooking and baking. She also has a unique hobby, soap making. Ms. Wacker also loves to travel. In regards to cooking, Ms. Wacker plants a veggie garden every summer. In the garden she has peppers, cucumbers, and tomatoes. 

She loves plants so it’s hard to pick a favorite. “I really like succulents and tropical plants.” Wacker said.

Ms. Wacker’s favorite comfort food is Nashville Hot Chicken. She mentioned “The best version in St. Louis is Chuck’s Hot Chicken.”

One thing Ms. Wacker is looking forward to this year is continuing to build relationships. “I have already met a lot of amazing staff members and really amazing students.” said Wacker.
