Like many seniors, Stella Sohn has spent her high school years rooting for our sports teams, enjoying our assemblies, and exploring her academic interests. One thing that sets her apart though, is that instead of graduating in May, she will be done with high school this December.
Sohn explained, “As much as I love high school, I was just ready for the next thing, and senioritis was hitting hard, so the faster that I got out of here, the better.” Sohn has loved her high school experience so far, but explained that she is ready for her future to start.
Most of us can relate to having senioritis, but Sohn is actually doing something about it. She announced that she will jump right into college, saying, “I will be starting at St. Charles Community College in January”. She explained that in the future she is “hoping to get into the ultrasound technician program at St. Louis University”.
Since Sohn was on track with her credits, all it took to graduate in December was a creative writing class over the summer. Now, she will have finished high school by Christmas break.
Even though she is excited for her future after high school, Sohn says she will “miss the school spirit” at West. Her favorite memories of high school have been cheering on the football team, going to basketball games, being a member of “The Tribe”, and attending all the dances.
Stella has had such a positive experience in high school, and has used her role in “The Tribe” to make sure each student can say the same. This friendly and positive attitude is now taking her into her college years, where she is sure to have another successful run.
