The St. Charles West chamber choir.

This past Friday (3/11), the St. Charles West choral program – consisting of the mixed choir, the women’s ensemble, and the chamber choir – received all outstanding ratings for each piece at the Class 3 MSHSAA State Festival held at Fort Zumwalt South High School.  The choir was broken up into three groups: the concert chorale (consisting of the mixed choir, the women’s ensemble, and the chamber choir), the women’s ensemble, and the chamber choir.

For the concert chorale, the songs sung were “How Can I Stop Singing my Song?” and “Deo Dicamus Gratias”, a Latin piece.  All three choirs came together and received an overall outstanding (2) rating for their performances and interpretation of the music given.

For the chamber choir, the songs performed were “Northern Lights” and an arrangement of “Cantate Domino”, each song receiving an outstanding rating overall and an exemplary rating in some categories.

For the women’s ensemble, the pieces performed were “The Nightingale” and “Life has Loveliness to Sell”.  Both pieces earned an outstanding rating.

However, with high reward comes hard work.  All three choirs have been working on their pieces since January 2022, utilizing each and every rehearsal to its full potential learning notes, dynamics, and music literacy.  Congratulations to all of the warriors in choir! We are proud of you!

Chamber choir and women’s ensemble will be showcasing new music on April 6-7 at the Dance and Drill Variety Show.  Tickets will be 5$ at the door.
