In this emotional graphic novel you follow a young George and his family growing up in Japanese internment camps during World War II after the Pearl Harbor bombing. President Roosevelt signed Executive Order 9066, which creates the legal framework for the internment camps. The family first arrive at Santa Anita Racetrack, where they live in a horse stall.  A few months later the family left for Arkansas. George’s father began to organize the community; he then became a block manager. What happens to his family? Are they successful in getting out? Find out in George Takei’s novel.
