Club Feature: FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes)

Annabelle Prost

One club many students might not know as much about is FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes). FCA is open to any student who wants to attend, whether you’re an athlete or Christian or not! They meet at 6:30 a.m. on Friday mornings in Mr. Jackson’s room and always have breakfast food like donuts, pancakes, or muffins available.

At each meeting they play a game like knockout, ultimate frisbee, or other icebreaker type of games. After that, one of the leaders will have a lesson planned and they all break into small groups to discuss, pray, and talk about scripture and relevant struggles for high schoolers in order to help each other grow personally and in their faith.

The leadership team of this club is not like any other. It consists of seven students who had to apply and be chosen by Mr. Jackson to be on the team. These seven students are Sarah Senyard, Abby Govero, Avery Jackson, Annabelle Prost, Avery Sikma, Josiah Erikson and Miley Jackson. The team has monthly leadership meetings and takes turns planning and creating the lessons for the rest of the club. They also take turns providing the food and lead the small groups at full club meetings.

The group is extremely welcoming and a great way to get to know more people and have fun. They also host events outside of school and their regular meetings. These include annual fall and Christmas parties/hangouts, movie nights and more. If you have any questions feel free to ask the club sponsor, Mr. Jackson. Anyone is welcome to come to these meetings and they encourage everyone to come try it out!
