The varsity men’s basketball team against Winfield during the first quarter.

This past Tuesday (12/14), varsity men’s basketball clinched their first conference win against Winfield with a score of 54-51.    During the first and second quarters, the Warriors were up with a 8 point lead with a score of 27-19 during the half.  The Winfield Warriors managed to get close within the third and fourth quarters, but St. Charles West pulled through with a slight lead in the 4th quarter and managed to win the game.  With a GAC North championship this past season under their belt, this is a giant win for the Warriors and the start of a successful season.  This goes on to rank the Warriors higher within the GAC North conference in order to get closer to a GAC championship in February.

The student section also managed to get involved by participating in the neon theme and standing in the student section and cheering on the team.  The band and cheer squad were also seen playing during the warmups and dancing on the sidelines during the game. Overall, it was a game of sportsmanship and comradery with the involvement of St. Charles West groups from all around.

The Warriors play next at home VS Warrenton for another conference win at 7:30 on Friday night and the theme for the game is still undetermined.
