SCW Football slides past FHN for first victory of the season

On Thursday, September 1st, St. Charles West football faced their second non-conference matchup against the Francis Howell North Knights at Francis Howell Central High School in Cottleville, Missouri.  The Warriors started their season with a 0-1 record, losing to St. Dominic 49-12 last week.  The Knights started their season with a record of 1-0 with a win against North Point, with a score of 21-6.

The game started with the Knights taking the first points, with a score of 7-0 at the end of the first quarter.  In the second quarter, senior Jacob Kirt ran for a touchdown, bringing the score to 7-7.  By the end of the second quarter, the score managed to be 14-14 (with another running touchdown by Jacob Kirt) with the Knights and the Warriors tied.

In the midst of the third quarter, FHN managed to score again.  The score was now 21-14, with the Knights in the lead but St. Charles West not too far behind.  Later in the quarter, senior Jacob Kirt ran for 50 yards to score another touchdown, tying the game 21-21.

In the fourth quarter, junior Jack Anzalone ran for two yards to put the Warriors up 28-21.  Additionally, senior Jacob Kirt closed the game with a 28 yard touchdown run, leaving the final score as 35-21 St. Charles West, a huge win for the Warrior football program.

The Warriors play again on Friday.
