St. Charles West has just hosted a food drive in support of the organization Operation Food Search. The drive started on Monday, September 15th and ends on Friday, September 19th. This may seem like any other food drive, but SCW was actually in direct competition with Orchard Farm high school. The competition was to see who could receive the most food donations by Friday, where the winner was announced by KSDK at the SCW vs. OFHS football game here at SCW. Be sure to bring all donations PRIOR to the game, as donations won’t be accepted at the game.
There were blue barrels located all around school, where you could drop your food and hygiene items. The items needed and wanted to include things like: chicken, light tuna, salmon (pouches or cans), soup, canned veggies, instant brown rice, whole wheat pasta, pasta sauce, tomato paste and dried spices (basil, garlic powder, oregano, etc.). While ramen and glass items are common in food drives, SCW asks that those items are not donated. There are also some hygiene products that the driver accepts as well, such as, toothpaste, toothbrushes, and deodorant.
Besides donating food, you can also donate money online that goes directly to helping Operation Food Search source and store more food for families. The link to donate money can be found in the daily emails sent out by Mrs. Gramann.
All the food and money donations collected throughout the week of 9/15–9/19 will be donated to Operation Food Search, which is a non-profit organization that uses money and food donations to provide struggling families with all kinds of food and hygiene supplies.
Not only do your donations help Operation Food Search, it also helps and impact the millions of families that receive those food/hygiene items.
So bring in your donations throughout the week, and come to the football to find out the winner of the competition.
