Each year the St.Charles West players put on a fall show. This year’s play was based on the classic board game, Clue. The game is a murder-mystery game where players compete to be the first to figure out the weapon, location, and killer of a murder. However the play was a bit different in that 6 murders took place, instead of one, and the other characters had to figure out who the murderer(s) were.
SCW’s production of Clue was unlike past SCW plays, as the sets were created with doors. Senior Alyssa Riegerix said, “We ended up having moving doors which complicated a lot of scenes because there was six total moving doors and we had to move the right ones at the right time into the right spot which was very complicated.” However, even with a complicated set, the cast and crew worked together to create the perfect set.
There is a lot that goes into making a play. From controlling the lights and sound, to being an actor, everyone ‘s job is important and very necessary to making the play successful. Sophomore Casey Schneider said, “In my perspective as an actor, the acting part of the play went very well. Everyone was on top of it which really surprised me, 232 lines are very hard to memorize, and we pulled through fluently and amazingly!” The actors are just one part of creating a successful play, but a play wouldn’t be complete without a tech team. Riegerix said, “Clue was different because of how tech heavy it was so I applaud our tech crew for everything they did!”
The play was well-loved at SCW from both the students and the staff. Vice Principal Mrs.Hallam said, “The SCW Players’ production of Clue was delightful–the perfect blend of wit and theatrical creativity. The costuming and makeup captured each iconic character, and the use of doors as both props and characters was clever. Every performer delivered a standout performance, bringing the humor, mystery, and chaos of Clue to life with impressive skill and charm.”
Despite complications with the set and lots of lines to memorize the SCW players put on a wonderful show. With the hundreds of people and the hard work that goes into making SCW’s plays, Clue was a success.
